Today I had cleaning checks. "What does this have anything to do with shortbread?" you may ask. Well, after checking the cleanest apartment on the block they proceeded to leave a HUGE TIN OF THE HOLIDAY SHORTBREAD COOKIES!! AND I MEAN HUGE!!! I am really excited. :) These cookies are the best. The pretzel ones with the sugar on em, the pretty circle ones... and I did start out loving them. :)
I remember having them around the holidays, every once in a while, growing up. And then in high school my french teacher asked me to make a batch of some cookies she had a recipe for. I didn't know what kind of cookie 'shortbread' referred to. All I know is that I made a small batch of cookies that was all made out of butter and flour, and maybe a couple other things. I was grossed out. It was only then, after I told her I thought they tasted bad, that she told me what kind of cookies they were and that she thought they tasted amazing. I hadn't had shortbread cookies in a long time at that point so I didn't remember what they were supposed to taste like.
I think today was the first time I have had shortbread cookies since that event. And the tin is so HUGE!!! I am happy to get my love of shortbread cookies back and to be able to split the tin only 4 ways with my roomies instead of 6. hahaha :)
Happy Holidays!!!!
